This wedding inspiration editorial took place on a crisp November morning, in one of Athens’ most prestigious estates, in Nasioutzik Museum. The cold winter breeze along with this grandiose venue were the perfect scenery for this bright beautiful romantic autumnal setting we were hoping for. A combination of bright colors was selected, such as a nostalgic dusty pink and a bold, imperial emerald green, with the elegance and seasonality of the velvet fabric, in an effort to avoid the common moodier color palettes that one often sees during this period of the year. It wasn’t just the combination of colors that touched us, but the velvet fabric that made them look so bright, so rich and poetic. Velvet can be such an inspiration, because of its unusual softness and appearance, its shadow play with its folds and its nobility.
The shoot started with the lovely couple in front of an old stone little church, located in the estate. The bride wore a white dress with a muslin skirt and a sheer top with embroidered florals, while holding a bouquet wrapped in a pink velvet ribbon. The groom stood next to her, wearing a green suit jacket and a velvet bow tie. The bride moved effortlessly in her light dress, while here emerald pear- shaped ring and long earring were sparkling from afar.
The next part of the shoot took place in front of a huge olive tree, located just outside of the museum. An intimate table was set for two, completely covered by a dusty pink velvet tablecloth and framed by two wooden chairs with brass details. White and light pink flowers, rose peppers, gold imperial charger plates, pink vintage dinner plates and onyx gold flatware were the perfect elements of this romantic tablescape, that made the cloudy day look brighter. The bride was now wearing a pink grey tulle evening gown with embroidered pearls and flowers and the groom was wearing an, oh so classy, pink jacket.
The last part of the shoot was the setting of the dessert table. The table was an old wooden secrétaire, slightly covered by the dusty pink velvet fabric that was one of the main sources of inspiration. All the attention was drawn to the brushstroke two-tier wedding cake, with pink, gold and emerald accents. The rest of the desserts, such as the petit fours, the macarons and the 3-tier cookies were decorated with emerald green details.
Greece may be popular worldwide as a summer wedding destination, but who can say that you cannot have a very elegant wedding with bright colors and light romantic details just in the beginning of winter? All one needs is a successful pairing of colors and fabric for a dream winter wedding to come true.
