It's a common belief that Greece is a popular destination for island destination weddings. However, Greece has another side. Another beautiful, yet more rough one. And that beauty lies near the mountains. Olga and Stathis decided to get married in Papigo,
near Ioannina. Although Papigo is not a popular summer destination, it was, however,
a significant one for the couple. They planned their first trip as a couple there, they celebrated many of their anniversaries there, but, most importantly, that is the place where Stathis asked Olga to marry him. Since the wedding was being held at such a rustic place, the couple wanted to keep it traditional, yet elegant.
The wedding was small, with around 100 guests, who all arrived in Papigo the day before the wedding. Everybody was welcomed with a linen hand-painted bag full of traditional treats, such as local herbs and desserts. For the day of the wedding, the groom chose a suit so elegant and fine, that gave him the style of a vintage aviator. The bride chose a very simple, yet elegant silk white tailor made wedding dress, that made her look like a fairy
in the mountains. Stathis was waiting for her at the entrance of the church in Mikro Papigo, while Olga was being escorted by her father, along with traditional local music players. It was like a dream. The scenery was magical.
After the ceremony, the guests arrived at Megalo Papigo. They all found their seats by their place cards on the wooden seating chart by the entrance. The garden of the venue was set with long wooden tables and wooden chairs, garlands of green and white flowers and touches of gold. After the sun went down, all the lights went on and the place looked like a summer rustic feast! Guests were pleasantly surprised by all the extra favors, such as the anti-mosquito repellents, the sparklers for the first dance, the wish cards and others. Party music and an open cocktail bar labeled in Greek “Ας αρχίσουν οι χοροί”, meaning “Let’s Dance”, kept the party going until early in the morning.
