Getting married by the sea is always a good idea. Especially if you choose Greece as your wedding destination! Laura and Jan decided to get married in Halkidiki in Northern Greece last June. They both live in Aachen, Germany, but since Jan is Greek the decision to have a beach wedding at his hometown was easy. And it was a bohemian dream come true.

Most of the guests flew from Germany to be close to their beloved couple on their special day. The preparations started early in the morning. Vicky was with the couple through the entire process, taking pictures of all the details and the important moments. Jan and Laura were getting ready in their hotel rooms, writing their vows to each other, while overlooking from their windows the setting of the ceremony, the chairs, the wooden arch, the macrame and all the details that Laura dreamed for the day she got married to Jan. A little after 4 p.m. Jan found his spot under the arch and welcomed all the guests. A few minutes later, Laura’s father, obviously emotional and happy, escorted his beautiful daughter in her amazing GLL wedding dress down the aisle, under the sound of a guitar accompanied with a beautiful voice.

The ceremony lasted almost an hour. The couple exchanged vows for life and promised each other eternal love and devotion, in front of their friends and family. In order to never forget the location and always have a reason to come back, Laura and Jan asked from all of their guests to bring a handful of soil and plant an olive tree right where they got married. Every year, they will be coming back to make sure their olive tree grows stronger.

After the ceremony, we started welcoming the guests with refreshments to the venue area. At the entrance, a wooden swing with a white and green floral arrangement and a macrame backdrop was setting the tone for this bohemian dinner party to follow. Dreamcatchers, hanging macrames and little bottles with olives were adding to that feeling. Round tables, with wooden chairs, warm color schemes, jam jars with flower bouquets and olive details were set for all the guests, who found their spot with their name in calligraphy on each plate. The couple took a few moments to themselves to take a walk as newlyweds and have a quick photo session in an olive field, as well as on the beach.

Moments after the sunset, the lights went on and the scenery became even more romantic, under the shadow shed by the white wooden LOVE sign. The music started and the guests started to get up and shape a corridor, while holding sparklers as the couple walked by, in order to get on the dance floor and have their first dance as husband and wife. And that was only the beginning! The night went by with touching words and moments, lots of wine and cocktails and, of course, a lot of syrtaki!

Here’s to a happy couple. May your life be a bohemian dream forever.
