As seen on Everafter
The Hollywood Walk of Fame comprises more than 2,600 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in Hollywood, California. The stars are permanent public monuments to achievement in the entertainment industry, bearing the names of a mix of actors, musicians, directors, producers, musical and theatrical groups, fictional characters, and others. The Walk of Fame is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and maintained by the self-financing Hollywood Historic Trust. It is a popular tourist destination, with a reported 10 million visitors in 2003.
George was born a star. That is the case. So the moment that his parents contacted me to plan their first born’s baptism, they only had one wish; to create a beautiful scenery full of stars. However, since the star theme was quite common during the season, we wanted to upgrade this concept. And this is how we came up with the Hollywood star theme! Bold black and bordeaux colors with gold accents along with many many stars, were the elements that we used to decorate this beautiful baptism.
Everything was tailor made for little George. From his star shaped black and gold invitations and the laser cut plexiglass favors, to his adorable baptism set and candle. The ceremony took place at a beautiful small church in the center of Thessaloniki. The front yard was decorated by a very impressive welcome table, with black satin, a backdrop made of laser cut stars and lots of delicious treats. Afterwards, the guest were invited at one of Thessaloniki’s finest hotels, Porto Palace, for a very glamorous cocktail evening in the Grand Pietra Hall. While receiving inspiration from Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, we created our own just outside the entrance, where the guests loved to take pictures. The hall was redesigned, in order to accommodate our guests and the band. In the middle we set the stage for the live bad and arranged little lounges for the younger guests right in front of the round tables for the family. Flying gold foil balloons were indicating the table numbers, while two huge robotic heads were lighting the entrance. It all felt like a movie premiere, like a red carpet event. And we enjoyed it as such indeed!
