The Greek islands are a very popular wedding destination for couple from all over the world. One of them is Sifnos, a small and beautiful island in Cyclades. As many islands in the Cyclades complex, Sifnos has amazing landscapes, beautiful beaches and delicious food. The main reason that couples choose to get married in this lovely island is the church of Panagia Chrysopigi, due to its stunning location and surroundings. This church, that is considered to be one of Greece’s most beautiful churches, is the reason that brought Faih and Polys to the island of Sifnos, to exchange vows of eternal love and commitment.

We started planning their special day several months ahead. While discussing the designs and concept of the wedding, we had a very specific image to our minds, that represents the beauty of almost all Greek island. The bright blue of the traditional shutters, combined with the intense fuchsia of bougainvilleas that decorate most of the white homes of the island.

Their close friends and family traveled a few days prior to the wedding, in order to spend time with the couple and get to know the island. On the day of the wedding, the bride was getting ready while a local band was playing all the traditional wedding songs just outside of her window, while the groom and his guests were performing all the Cypriot wedding customs. Not much later, we has waiting his beloved one just before the steps of Panagia Chrysopigi. Faih arrived at the church accompanied by the local band. The strong wind, the smell of the sea and the sound of the traditional music were more than enough to create a very touching and unforgettable scenery.

After the ceremony, the guests were welcomed at the venue with a shot that held their name and table. The ladies gladly received their flip-flops and pashminas and the men enjoyed the local liquer. The couple arrived at the venue by boat. The guests were enthusiastically waiting and cheering. All the tables were set in white color, with blue napkins and branches of bougainvillea and the deck was romantically lit with string and fairy lights.

Destination weddings can be quite a challenge. That is what makes them so special. The idea that a couple chooses a location, usually one that they are not familiar with, and it is our sole goal to make that location one that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

“Is love this misguided need to have you beside me most of the time? Is love this safety I feel in our silences? Is it this belonging, this completeness?”
